Chiropractors seek to restore optimal nervous system function, through the gentle realignment of spinal vertebrae, and the alleviation of muscle tension. We also rectify and treat injuries to ensure your
best performance at work, home and during
activities like sport. Chiropractors have a minimum 5 years tertiary qualification.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is an exciting time in your life however the physical changes in your body can mean you need a little additional help to ensure you feel at your best whether you are already running after other children or this is your first baby. Hormone changes, and a shift in weight distribution can often lead to neck and back complaints that steadily increase during the pregnancy. Gentle manipulation is a natural drug-free method approach to target problem areas and give you back the best chance at mobility and reduced pain during pregnancy and labour. Post-natal care is very important as your body makes rapid changes in the first 6 months after birth. You may have a specific issue or just require a check to ensure the additional body strain of breast feeding and pram pushing is not affecting your spine! Our pregnancy chiropractor Dr Gabrielle Tymms has 3 years postgraduate training in pregnancy & postnatal care. She uses techniques which may include manual or activator adjustments as well as the Webster technique (technique used to assist pregnant women with pelvic balance).

Paediatrics

Similar to adults, a child’s spine may suffer with misalignment. This may happen as early as the birth process (especially during a difficult labour where forceps or vacuum extraction are used) or even in the womb (if the baby becomes stuck in an unnatural position). A child is never too young to have their spine checked however chiropractic for children is very different to that of adults. A child’s body is still developing and therefore requires thorough examination and knowledge of their nervous system and spine. Our paediatric chiropractor Dr Gabrielle Tymms has 3 years postgraduate training in paediatrics and has obtained her DICCP diplomat. Spinal adjustments for infants and children may involve very light finger-tip or activator (hand held instrument used in place of manipulation) adjustments to correct malfunctioning spinal segments.

Sports Chiropractic

The focus of sports chiropractic is to provide care which leads to performance optimisation of the neuromusculoskeletal system for athletes. Sports Chiropractic also offers rehabilitation of acute, subacute and chronic injuries when they arise. The approach is a multimodal one. Treatment may include one or more of the following: spinal joint manipulation or mobilisation, peripheral (e.g. ankle, knee, shoulder) manipulation or mobilisation, soft tissue therapies, rehabilitation and other movement/corrective exercise therapies, nutritional advice, strapping and bracing and other related approaches.
